Is the result take-home sick pay?
No. The calculator shows an estimated gross amount before tax, social insurance, pension contributions and other deductions.
Does the calculator decide whether sick leave is paid?
No. You enter the paid sick leave entitlement. The calculator only applies the stated daily-rate method to that input.

How is the daily sick pay rate calculated?
The calculator divides annual gross salary by the number of working days per year entered.
What working days per year should I enter?
Use the annual working-day divisor used by the relevant payroll arrangement or contract. A five-day week is often described as about 260 weekdays before holidays, but the correct method may differ.
Should I enter gross or net salary?
Enter gross annual salary before deductions, because the calculation produces a gross sick pay estimate.
Can I enter part-time employee details?
Yes. Use a salary and annual working-days figure that both reflect the employee's part-time pattern and the applicable payroll method.
Can sick days include half days?
Yes, where the absence is recorded that way. The calculator accepts decimal day values such as 0.5.
Entitlement and excess-day questions
How the calculator handles paid leave limits and sickness absence above them.
How are paid sick days determined?
Paid sick days equal the lower of sick days taken and the entered paid sick leave entitlement.
What happens if sick days taken exceed the entitlement?
The excess is shown as sick days outside entitlement and is not included in estimated normal-rate gross sick pay.
Are days outside entitlement always unpaid?
No. They may be unpaid, covered by another contractual arrangement or affected by statutory provisions. This calculator does not decide their treatment.
Does the calculator handle full-pay and half-pay stages?
No. It applies one normal daily rate to all eligible paid sick days. Tiered schemes need a separate calculation.

Are waiting days included?

Can overtime, commission or allowances affect actual sick pay?
Yes. Whether those amounts are included depends on the applicable contract, policy and payroll rules; this simple annual-salary method does not calculate them.
Why might payroll produce a different amount?
The payroll method may use a different divisor, pay-period calculation, rounding approach, absence rule, entitlement balance or contractual rate.
