Overview

Use this Accountants Sick Pay (Monthly) Calculator to estimate an employee's gross monthly pay when they take sickness absence. Enter their normal monthly salary, scheduled working days, sick days, unpaid waiting days, and the employer's sick pay percentage.

How it works

The calculator divides the normal monthly salary by the scheduled working days to estimate a daily rate. It removes sick days from the days worked, then deducts any unpaid waiting days from the sickness absence. Eligible sick days are paid at the employer sick pay rate you enter. The result combines pay for worked days with employer sick pay. It does not automatically include statutory sick pay, tax, pension, or other payroll rules.

Frequently asked questions

What does this monthly sick pay calculator estimate?

It estimates gross pay for a payroll month by combining normal pay for worked days with employer sick pay for eligible sickness days.

Does the calculator include statutory sick pay?

No. This version calculates employer sick pay from the rate you enter and does not automatically add statutory sick pay or country-specific entitlements.

What are waiting days?

Waiting days are sickness absence days that are unpaid under the selected employer policy. They are removed before employer sick pay is calculated.

Why is gross monthly pay lower during sickness absence?

If sick days are unpaid or paid below the normal daily rate, the employee receives less than their usual gross salary for those days.

Should I use calendar days or working days?

Use scheduled working days. The calculation is based on the days the employee was expected to work in that payroll month.

Does this include tax and pension deductions?

No. The figures are gross estimates before income tax, National Insurance, pension contributions, salary sacrifice, and other deductions.
