Why is customer acquisition cost deducted only once?

CAC is treated as the initial average cost of obtaining one customer, while annual contribution is generated over the relationship.

How is the LTV to CAC ratio calculated?

It divides gross customer lifetime value by customer acquisition cost. The ratio cannot be calculated when CAC is zero.

Does the calculation include taxes and overhead?

No. It excludes taxes and generally excludes shared overhead, unless those amounts are included in the direct-cost input.

Should I focus on gross CLV or net CLV?

Gross CLV shows expected contribution before acquisition cost, while net CLV shows the amount remaining after that cost. Both provide useful context.

Does a positive net CLV guarantee profitability?

No. The result does not include every business cost, timing effect, or risk factor.

Can I compare customer segments with this calculator?

Yes, if each segment has its own consistent estimates for revenue, direct cost, retention, and CAC.

Why should payback period be considered with LTV to CAC?
