Absence Rates Goal (Individual) Calculator
Estimate your current absence rate and how many additional workdays you can miss while staying within a target absence rate.
Overview
Use this individual absence rate goal calculator to compare absence days recorded so far with your target rate. Enter the workdays in your period, workdays completed, absence days and target percentage to see your current rate and remaining allowance.
How it works
The calculator divides absence days to date by completed workdays to show your current absence rate. It then multiplies the total workdays in the period by your target percentage to estimate the maximum absence days allowed. Subtracting absence days already recorded gives the remaining allowance. If the result is negative, the target has already been exceeded.
How to use this calculator
- 1Enter the total scheduled workdays in the period you want to track.
- 2Add the number of scheduled workdays completed so far.
- 3Enter the absence days currently recorded for the period.
- 4Set the maximum absence rate you want to achieve.
- 5Review your current rate and the additional absence days available before the target is reached.
Example Calculation
Total workdays in period
260
Workdays completed
130
Absence days so far
2
Target absence rate
3%
Additional absence days available
5.8 workdays
With 2 absence days across 130 completed workdays, the current absence rate is about 1.54%. A 3% target across 260 workdays allows 7.8 days, leaving about 5.8 additional absence days before reaching the target.
Frequently asked questions
How is an individual absence rate calculated?
It is usually calculated by dividing absence days by scheduled workdays, then multiplying by 100. Your employer may use a different definition or counting method.
What does a negative remaining absence allowance mean?
It means the absence days already recorded are greater than the allowance implied by your target rate for the full period.
Should annual leave be included in absence days?
Usually no, but this depends on your employer's policy. Enter only the days that your workplace counts as absence.
Can I use this calculator for a monthly absence target?
Yes. Enter the scheduled workdays, completed workdays and absence days for that month rather than for a full year.
Why can the maximum absence days include a decimal?
A percentage-based target can produce a fraction of a day. Your employer may round this figure differently when applying its policy.
Does this calculator account for different types of absence?
No. It treats every entered absence day equally, so check whether your workplace excludes or handles particular absence types differently.
