Absence Rates Goal (Individual) Calculator Examples

Worked examples showing how an individual absence target translates into a current rate and remaining absence allowance.

These examples use scheduled workdays and absence days counted under one consistent policy. They show how the same target can produce different results depending on the period length, timing and absence days already recorded.

How to Read Your Results

The current absence rate uses completed workdays only, so it can change substantially early in a period.

The maximum absence days figure is the target percentage applied to all scheduled workdays in the selected period.

A positive remaining allowance is the unrounded amount available before the calculated target is reached.

A zero or negative allowance means no additional absence days are available within the calculated target.

The projected final rate assumes the current absence total stays unchanged for the rest of the period.

Assumptions & Important Notes

  • All examples use scheduled workdays rather than calendar days.
  • Entered absences are assumed to be included under the same workplace policy.
  • Target allowances are shown before any employer-specific rounding.
  • No future changes to schedules or absence records are assumed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use these examples for a monthly target?

Yes. Replace the annual workday total with the scheduled workdays in the month and enter the month's completed workdays and absences.

Why can a monthly target allow less than one absence day?

A percentage target is calculated from workdays, so a short period can produce a fractional-day result before rounding.

Can I use half days in the calculation?

Yes, if absence is recorded in half-day units and your workplace policy counts it that way.

What if my working pattern changes during the period?

Update the total scheduled workdays so the calculation reflects the revised period.
