Your Details

Overview

Use this Absence Rates Meeting Cost (Individual) Calculator to estimate the annual cost of one employee's absence. Enter their salary, expected working days, absence days, employer on-costs and the expected cost of covering their work.

How it works

The calculator divides salary plus employer on-costs by annual working days to estimate a daily employment cost. It multiplies this by absence days to find the direct paid absence cost. It then applies your cover-cost percentage for temporary staff, overtime or outsourced work, and adds that amount to the direct cost. The absence rate is absence days divided by working days.

How to use this calculator

  1. 1Enter the employee's gross annual salary.
  2. 2Set the number of working days expected in the year.
  3. 3Add the total number of absence days.
  4. 4Include an employer cost uplift for payroll on-costs and benefits.
  5. 5Estimate the additional cover cost and review the results.
