How to Read Your Results
Estimated holiday pay is a gross figure before payroll deductions.
Paid holiday hours show the time represented by the booked holiday days under the entered regular pattern.
Accrued leave is an estimated amount earned so far, not a balance after leave already taken.
Annual entitlement is expressed in days based on the normal days worked each week.
Compare the accrued figure with the employer's recorded leave balance, which may reflect different rules or rounding.
Assumptions & Important Notes
- Each example assumes equal-length working days within the stated normal weekly pattern.
- The hourly rate is assumed to be the normal gross rate for the worker.
- Leave is estimated to accrue evenly through a 52-week leave year.
- The examples use the calculator's 5.6-week annual leave assumption and 28-day cap.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use these examples for a worker who works fewer than five days a week?
Yes, provided their normal weekly hours and normal workdays are reasonably regular. The calculation uses their own work pattern.
Why does a four-day worker have fewer entitlement days than a five-day worker?
The annual estimate is based on weeks of leave converted into that worker's normal workdays. A four-day pattern produces 22.4 estimated days, which still represents 5.6 weeks.
Can I enter a half-day of holiday?
Yes. A fractional day can be converted into paid hours using the average daily-hours calculation.
Does accrued leave mean the worker can take that exact amount?
It is only a simple estimate of accrued entitlement. Approved leave, leave already used, contract terms and employer processes may affect the available balance.
