Accountants Holiday Pay (Hourly) Calculator
Estimate holiday pay, paid holiday hours and accrued annual leave for an hourly-paid worker using their usual work pattern.
Overview
Use this hourly holiday pay calculator to estimate gross pay for booked annual leave. Enter the worker's hourly rate, usual weekly hours, normal working days and the number of holiday days being taken; you can also estimate leave accrued during the current leave year.
How it works
The calculator converts usual weekly hours into average daily hours by dividing them by working days per week. It multiplies those daily hours by the booked holiday days, then multiplies the result by the hourly pay rate. Leave accrual is estimated by pro-rating a 5.6-week annual allowance over 52 weeks, with an annual cap of 28 days used in this simplified calculation.
How to use this calculator
- 1Enter the worker's normal gross hourly pay rate.
- 2Add their usual or average paid hours for a typical week.
- 3Enter the number of days they normally work each week.
- 4Enter the number of holiday days to be paid.
- 5Add the completed weeks in the leave year and review the estimated pay and accrual.

Frequently asked questions
How is holiday pay calculated for an hourly-paid worker?
For a regular work pattern, a simple estimate is hourly rate multiplied by the paid holiday hours. Paid hours are found by converting booked holiday days into average daily hours.
How many holiday days are included in 5.6 weeks?
Multiply 5.6 by the worker's normal days per week. For someone working five days each week, this is 28 days; this may include public holidays if the contract says so.
Does this calculator include tax and deductions?
No. The result is an estimated gross holiday pay amount before payroll deductions such as tax, National Insurance and pension contributions.
How is holiday leave accrued during the year?
This calculator spreads the annual entitlement evenly across 52 weeks. An employer's leave-year rules, start date and contract may use a different accrual method.
Can I use this for workers with changing hours or pay?
It can provide a rough estimate, but variable-hours or variable-pay workers may require an average-pay calculation over a relevant reference period under applicable rules.
