It estimates the total team headcount, accepted hires and job offers needed to support a target number of active team members after expected absences.
What is the planned active team size?
It is the number of people you need actively available during the period, not necessarily the total number assigned to the team.
What should I enter as the current team size?
Enter the people currently assigned to the team before the planned new hires start.
What is an absence rate?
It is the expected share of assigned people who may be unavailable during the planning period, such as through sickness or planned leave.

How is the required total headcount calculated?
The calculator divides the planned active team size by one minus the absence rate, then rounds up.
What is the absence allowance?
It is the additional headcount above the planned active team size that is included to cover expected absences.
Why does the calculator use an availability rate?
Availability is the part of the assigned team expected to be present. For example, an 8% absence rate implies 92% expected availability.
Can required headcount be lower than the planned active team size?
No. With a zero absence rate it can match the active target; with any positive absence rate it will normally be equal to or higher than that target after rounding.
Offers and acceptance rates

How are job offers needed calculated?
The calculator divides accepted hires needed by the expected offer acceptance rate and rounds up to a whole offer.
Why are more offers needed than hires?
If some candidates are expected to decline, more offers may be needed to obtain the required number of accepted hires.
What if all offers are expected to be accepted?
At a 100% acceptance rate, the estimated number of offers equals the accepted hires needed.
What if the current team already meets required headcount?
The calculator returns zero hires and zero offers needed, based on the inputs supplied.

No. Actual absences and candidate decisions can differ from the assumptions used.
Does the calculator include turnover?
No. Expected leavers should be considered separately from absence when planning the future team size.

No. The calculation estimates headcount and offer volume only; recruitment timing and readiness need separate review.
Should the same rate be used for every role?
Not necessarily. Separate estimates may be more useful where roles, locations or candidate markets have different absence or acceptance patterns.
